The role: Engineering Manager/Director, Showingbook.com
We're looking for highly technical, hands-on Software and Systems Engineering Manager/Directors to lead a team of engineers. The
Showingbook.com teams are directly responsible for Showingbook's stellar
uptime record, and are the guardians/custodians of the end-to-end
performance and reliability of Showingbook's user-facing services. This is a
hybrid team (engineering and operations-oriented), consisting of software
engineers, systems administrators, and operations architects. In this highly
visible leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring that
Showingbook users can always reach and use all of the services under your
team's care.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Computer Science preferred; MS/PhD a plus.
- 5-10+ years of relevant management experience of software developers,
systems administrators/architects, and hands-on technical professionals in
related areas.
- 5+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience, and a record of
individual technical achievement.
- Very high technical competence and strong academic record.
- That rare mix of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, verbal
agility, and diplomacy which allows you to rapidly earn the trust of
technically-astute teams across the company.
- Strong understanding of coding principles and concepts.
- Knowledge of C, C++, or Java, and Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Strong understanding of UNIX/Linux platform.
- A solid understanding of IP networking, network devices, and common
topologies.
- Skilled in leading projects, especially in deploying live end-user
systems.
- Desire for a leadership career which offers the opportunity to remain
technically hands-on.
The role: Webmaster
Showingbook is looking for a hardworking web developer with great web
production skills and a strong sense of clean design. The ideal candidate will
possess the ability to create web content independently, but also take direction
in a team-based environment. This position requires a utility player with strong
HTML abilities, design skills, technical savvy, great attention to detail, and
proven expertise in web development. Demonstrated portfolio of work is
essential.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and day-to-day maintenance of web content.
- Designing and quickly implementing clear, effective web pages.
- Creating and optimizing web images for download efficiency and clean
design.
- Responding to a variety of web-related requests across departments.
- Synthesizing feedback from multiple sources.
- Fulfilling several project requests simultaneously while meeting tight
deadlines.
Requirements:
- BA/BS or equivalent.
- Experience implementing and maintaining web content.
- Expert HTML and CSS skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong scripting and database skills, including Perl/CGI, MySQL, and
JavaScript.
- Experience in a Unix environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Keen eye for clean UI implementation and knowledge of website design best
practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

The role: Web Graphic Artist
Showingbook is looking for a talented artist with great free-hand
illustration skills and the ability to create clean web-ready designs. The
ideal candidate will possess the ability to create graphics independently, as
well as take direction in a team-based environment. This position requires a
utility player with strong artistic ability, web design expertise,
organizational skills, and great attention to detail. Online portfolio
required.
Responsibilities:
- Creating web images and digital illustrations.
- Creating graphical User Interface elements.
- Manipulating pixel-level details to create elegant icons.
- Optimizing web images for download efficiency.
- Responding to a variety of web and graphics related requests across
departments.
- Fulfilling several project requests simultaneously while meeting tight
deadlines.
Requirements:
- BA/BS or equivalent.
- Freehand illustration skills.
- Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS.
